The British were also dealing with the same effects. Many stood horrified as an air bus rammed into the parliament building, but thanks to last minute decisions by the crew and passengers, managed to angle away from Big Ben. Big Ben was also the only clock still working throughout the world. Russia was also rocked by airline crashes, but also miniature revolutions. The communist party was able to regain control of the government for a few hours before being sacked by the party it replaced, but it enjoyed only a few hours as the communist party managed to gain final control. Japan was also experiencing the same things, but because their buildings were much closer together, the carnage was much more chaotic. In the first few hours of the “Great Chaos”, it really seemed as if the world was collapsing in on itself. Many religious leaders around the world proclaimed this as the end times before their followers committed mass suicides. The Papacy only survived the first 5 hours of the chaos before a suicidal maniac broke through the security and managed to kill the Pope and all of the Bishops below him with automatic weapons and several grenades. The religious sectors weren’t the only factions to be hit. The political centers were hit just as hard, if not harder. Military forces globally were rendered impotent as their command and control lines were severed. Fighting across the mile wide DMZ in North Korea flared, in the hours following the loss of electronic communication. Fighting between the IRA and the British also flared up almost immediately, despite strict orders against such actions from both sides.
Later, it was estimated that nearly 1 billion people died from the mass suicides, chaos, and mindless bloodshed in the first day of “The Great Chaos”. But, I am getting ahead of myself. This is just the few things that we were able to piece together in the days, weeks, months, years, and decades after. But what happened in the first few hours of this chaos was about to be overshadowed by something much more destructive.

Catherine ran with the people around her. As she ran, the sounds of falling airplanes surrounded the masses of people. The planes sounded like the bombs in old WWII archive footage: a long whistle followed by silence, then an explosion. The police were powerless during this time; people were so panicked they just ran with their instincts: get out of the city. Just about the only thing the police could do was just try, and make sure no one got trampled. It felt like hours after the crowds finally became winded and stopped, they were still nowhere near outside the city, but the planes had stopped falling from the skies, so people began to calm down. Screams could be heard as the noise of the masses running became quieter. The screams were coming from the people who had been trampled. One of them got to his feet, but his face looked like hamburger, tufts of hair were missing, his nose was at an awkward angle, several teeth were missing, and his face was just soaked in blood.

“Ma’am, the secretary of defense, national security advisor, and the joint chiefs are ready for you in the situation room” The President’s aid told her.
“Thank you Edward, I’ll be down there in a few minutes” She replied, gathering her folder, and several papers. ‘This is going to be interesting… I hope they don’t try and blame this on Russia or China’ she said to herself with a smile ‘Boys will be boys; I guess’ her smile evolving to a slight chuckle.

Cool... Short but great plot. To be honest, I really felt I was in there...
